Dear Dairy...
Oh, what a day! I woke up feeling extra adventurous—those cabbages in Mr. McGregor's garden were calling my name. Mama said, “Stay out of trouble,” but honestly, how can anyone resist those crisp green leaves? So off I hopped, ears twitching, heart racing, straight through the gate.
The garden was a paradise!
I munched on lettuces, nibbled radishes, and even tasted a few beans. I was living the dream… until I heard the dreaded sound: footsteps.
It was Mr. McGregor!
He shouted and waved his rake like a madman. I bolted, zigzagging through rows of carrots, my poor jacket snagging on a gooseberry bush. Lost my shoes too—what a mess!
I squeezed under the gate just in time...
But oh, Diary, you should have seen the trouble before that! When I tried to dash past the gooseberry bushes, my jacket snagged tight on the thorns. I wriggled and pulled, but the more I struggled, the more it clung like a trap. My ears were twitching, my heart thumping, and I could hear Mr. McGregor stomping closer! I had to leave the jacket behind—my favorite blue one!—and bolt for freedom.
Later, I peeked back and saw him hanging my little coat on a scarecrow, like a trophy.
Mama wasn't thrilled when she saw me muddy and jacket-less, but at least I'm safe. Next time, maybe I'll listen to her… or maybe not. After all, adventure tastes almost as good as lettuce. And oh, the thrill of the chase! My heart still thumps when I think of Mr. McGregor waving that rake like a storm cloud. Tomorrow, I'll be good… probably. Unless those cabbages start calling my name again.
